Essential webdesign hints - part 1

What is the role of sketch in design process? Well, in my opinion it’s a main role. Those, who didn’t use to sketch know what I’m saying… It’s like a weigh house on sand with solid house on rock.
I suppose I didn’t discovered an America, but I had to write it, for it’s so essential.

But good sketch isn’t just a doodling around, it’s a plan. It’s a first spark of inspiration. The point is to place everything in right place… The sketch is well created as far as you understand it. Well, it isn’t an piece of art at all- it’s just an elemental thought (I mean webdesign’ sketch). Skech is also good thing for experimental. You can plan a lot of different variations of the same elements. It works perfect when you are meeting your client to show him a vision of website.

You can sketch anytime and anywhere- it’s even good idea to sketch in your free time. Small, stupid sketch can give you a great inspiring vision.

Don’t think about colors at this stage. Just choose a state of design: warm or cold.
Don’t think about details, just focus on the main shapes and objects. Ofcourse you can think about specific things of website’s enviroment like small pieces of grass or chains that hold (visually) whole site- i mean some specific elements that will single out your design from others.
Don’t think about photos. Remember- a good designer can work without any photo. A photography/ illustration in header isn’t a foundamental thing. Ofcourse there are exceptions… But actually mostly it’s just a part of decoration.
And what real sketch should have? Numbers, numbers, numbers… You should cound everything. Don’t reckon on random sizes. In sketch beside of elements also important is place for them and their size.
